We often hear people say that being a parent will change you, but it's something that we don't truly understand until we take on that role.
For Anne Hathaway, motherhood has forced her reevaluate her life choices so she could be the best parent to her three-year-old son, Jonathan Rosebanks, with husband Adam Shulman.
The notoriously private Princess Diaries star usually strays away from discussing details of her life off-camera, but when it comes to parenting, she's been known to open up a little bit more.
More recently, while on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her new film Serenity, Hathaway told the host that she has decided to give up alcohol for the sake of her son, who needs her to be present "all the time."
While many people are on board the Dry January train, Hathaway is committing to this for a much longer period of time.
"I quit drinking back in October, for 18 years," Hathaway said. "I'm going to stop drinking while my son is in my house just because I don't totally love the way I do it and he's getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings."
Hathaway explained that she's had moments where she wasn't proud of herself for being hungover while having important tasks to attend to, like taking her toddler to school.
"I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school, I wasn't driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me," she confessed. "I didn't love that one."
The Oscar-winner also recalled having to sit through an early morning meeting with the director of her latest movie after spending the night getting drunk with her co-star Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves in Mauritius.
"We drank the night away, and then I had to go to a meeting with Steven Knight, our director, the next day, and I was just kinda - have you guys ever had to go to a meeting hungover?" she asked the audience, before adding, "I was just kinda stumbling in with one eye open."
Hathaway joins a growing list of stars who have taken a sober pledge in order to maintain healthier lifestyles.
Celebrity moms like Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lopez have all been living alcohol-free, and we're beginning to think that's why they look like they're aging backwards every time we see them.
Not only do you save yourself from nasty hangovers, permanently opting out of happy hour has some amazing benefits for your health, including improved sleep, better cardiovascular health, clearer skin, and increased energy.
