There are many traffic laws we all know: follow the speed limit, wear your seatbelt, use your blinker, etc.
But there are a lot of traffic laws you probably didn't know, and we're here to tell you they're super weird.
1. Light It Up
If you were thinking of driving down a one-way street moving in the wrong direction, that's totally fine, just make sure you have a lantern attached to the front of your car. Alabama law states it's fine to go the wrong way as long as that lantern is there.
2. Hit & Run (& Pay)
I guess in Sarasota, Florida, they don't think the cars are moving too quickly. If you hit a pedestrian, you're in the clear, as long as you pay the $78 fine that goes along with it.
3. Keep It Closed
If you're making a trip to the beer store, let's hope they deliver. In Scituate, Rhode Island, it is illegal to drive down any street with alcohol in your car, even if it's unopened.
4. Eyes Open!
In a move that seems like common sense, Alabama had to outlaw driving while blindfolded. I mean...obviously.
5. Fill 'Er Up
We've all tried to ride out those last few miles on a tank of gas, but don't do that in Youngstown, Ohio. You're not legally allowed to run out of gas, as that town is already congested enough and it could cause even more backup.
6. Hands to Yourself!
Have you ever been in someone's car and they've been cut-off, and you all of a sudden get the urge to reach over and honk their horn? Don't do that, especially in University City, Missouri. It's considered a crime.
7. Stay Inside
If you manage to survive jumping out of a car moving 65mph in Glendale, California, you'd immediately be charged with a crime. Seems a little unfair, no?
8. Roadkill Rules
If you live in Illinois, and you have an urge to pickup some roadkill, make sure you check the law first. Only people who don't owe child support and whose wildlife privileges have not been suspended can claim possession of roadkill.
9. Noise Complaints
Don't try to get someone's attention with your horn if it's past 9 p.m. in Little Rock, Arkansas. It's against the law to honk near a sandwich shop or cold beverage stand.
10. Slow It Down
If you live in New Britain, Connecticut, you better hope your house doesn't catch fire. It's illegal for fire trucks to drive faster than 25mph, even when they're responding to an emergency.
11. No Wildlife
In Nevada, it is illegal to drive (or ride) your camel down the highway, regardless of how hot it may be.
12. Wait...what?
If you live in Pennsylvania, get ready:
"Any motorist who sights a team of horses coming toward him must pull well off the road, cover his car with a blanket or canvas that blends with the countryside, and let the horses pass. If the horses appear skittish, the motorist must take his car apart, piece by piece, and hide it under the nearest bushes."
