In the days of instant streaming, waiting a full year for new episodes of your favorite show can be a real pain.
But it's been 12 months since the latest episode of Alaskan Bush People.
As a new trailer finally drops for season eight of the hit reality show, the cast reveal just why they took such a long break - and Ami's cancer battle was just the beginning.
A New Beginning In A New State
The short teaser trailer revealed a huge change for the Browns: they're moving down to Washington state for the latest season.
While Alaskan Bush People might never be the same without Alaska, this isn't actually the first time the Browns have left Browntown.
The family relocated to Southern California while matriarch Ami Brown was battling lung cancer.
And of course, there are those nagging rumors that the cast only winter in Alaska to film their reality series.
But don't expect the show to lose its wild edge as it moves to the lower 48, because the Browns have settled on a 400-acre property that suits them perfectly.
"We have an actual ranch," Ami says in the trailer. "Barns, orchard, horses, cattle. It is a test. We can't afford to fail on this."
Billy Brown promises that the family's stay in Washington will be "the biggest adventure we've ever done."
The move to a new, bigger, more isolated property is probably a good choice for the Browns, since they've often butted heads with their Alaskan neighbors.
"It was like everything was closing in on us."
Looking back on their stressful year, Billy says that surviving it as a family was "a miracle."
"We've gone through a lot of adversity," he said. "It was like everything was closing in on us, darkness all around and it was over."
Of course he's mainly talking about his wife Ami's lung cancer battle.
Doctors told the Browns that Ami had just a 3% chance of beating the disease, but after moving to Southern California for an intense treatment plan, she pulled through.
In the new teaser, Ami says being in remission is "almost like being born again and starting a new life. The good Lord has given me a second chance."
She's not out of the woods yet, though. Ami revealed to People that she has to get scanned every three months for new tumors.
"It's going to be a part of my life forever," Ami said.
"But I want to encourage people to enjoy every moment and walk every moment with God because he knows what it's about. Never give up faith."
More And More Delays
Ami wasn't the only family member struggling with health issues either.
A spokesperson for the Discovery Channel revealed three of the Brown boys visited the hospital during filming for the new season.
Laurie Goldberg revealed that Noah needed emergency gallbladder surgery, and Gabe had an "awful flu-like illness" that affected him for weeks.
Bear Brown even took a trip to the ER in May, after an injury involving a tree left him with a scratched cornea.
Thankfully, all three of the boys are doing fine.
As Goldberg revealed, the elements were also not cooperating with the family, which delayed the new season even more.
"First of all, this has been the longest winter in the region where the upcoming season is being filmed," she explained.
"It is incredibly remote and all of the access roads to the area are closed. It really has been the worst winter ever."
"Basically, every single element that could possibly work against the Brown family and the production of the show has been."
Fans can finally catch the new season of Alaskan Bush People August 19 at 9 p.m on Discovery.
