It's common for an infant to cry. You do whatever you can to comfort them, but what happens when you can't figure out what's wrong? You will never feel more powerless than in that moment.
This is what happened to Scott and Jessica Walker of Wichita, Kansas when their 19-week-old daughter, Molly started screaming over lunch. As Molly continued to get worked up, she started to overheat, which prompted Jessica to remove her socks in an attempt to help her cool down. That's when she noticed her toe. A strand of hair had managed to wrap around the baby's toe and was cutting through the skin. If left unnoticed it could potentially have cut off the blood circulation.
Luckily for Molly, Jessica was able to remove the hair with tweezers and a magnifying glass within a few minutes.
The picture shown was taken about 45 minutes after the hair was removed! So scary.
There's no really good way to prevent a hair tourniquet, so if your baby seems inconsolable, check fingers and toes to make sure they aren't wrapped up in anything.
