Heading in the labor and delivery room can be one of the most memorable moments of your life.
As a first-time father waiting for the birth of their child, they can nervously be pacing up and down the hallways of the hospital or sitting by the mother-of-their-child's bedside, coaching her through the contractions.
While mom may be going through the pain of contractions and finally birthing the baby, dads are often along for the ride with her, also experiencing no sleep and trying to help where they can.
These celebrity dads are no exception.
Ryan Reynolds
When Blake Lively was in labor with baby James, Ryan Reynolds played her a motivational song to get her through.
He sang Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On."
Blake's reaction? "It was like steak knives came out of her eyes. ... Yeah. Real bad," Reynolds said.
After a couple of curse words, she was just fine.
"My doctor was laughing so hard that I thought she was going to drop our baby," Lively confessed.
Matthew McConaughey
McConaughey also got musical when his wife-to-be Camila was in labor.
"Contractions started kicking in, and we found a great rhythm," McConaughey told OK! "We had a 14-hour session, her and I did. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it. We danced to it. I was DJing this native Brazilian music."
After the birth McConaughey got baby Levi all to himself while medical staff took care of Camila.
"I had him for the first 15 minutes because they had to take care of Camila," he relates. "I said, "˜Come here, little man.' I saw the pecker and screamed that we'd been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her."
"I have it all chronicled," he explained. "Becoming a dad is something I've dreamed of doing since I was 10. Becoming a father felt very, very natural. We were jamming!" he said.
Channing Tatum
While he can dance, he didn't bust any moves while his wife Jenna was in labor.
While Jenna gave birth to baby Everly, Tatum was overcome with emotion about the whole event.
"I probably went to the bathroom four times and had a crying fit," Tatum said. "Like, I'm just like, 'I don't know what to do!'"
"It's like someone's hurting someone that you love, and you can't do anything about it," Tatum continued. "You physically cannot help."
"I'm still not helping "” and the baby's out!" Tatum added. "Men are useless, but we are really useless during this. The baby's gonna come out whether you're there or not."
How would you deal with the mother-to-be saying you can't leave the room for her 27 hour labor? Time to get creative.
Orlando Bloom
Miranda Kerr wouldn't let Orlando Bloom leave the room during her 27-hour labor, which forced him to pee in a bottle.
"I wouldn't even let him leave during it. He had to pee in a bottle. He stayed there the whole time, he is a wonderful father and I am really blessed," Kerr said.
Kerr had decided to have a natural birth, refusing drugs including an epidural, which Bloom offered to take in her place.
"And he said, 'Give me the epidural! Seriously, if you don't want it I'll take it because right now I'm dying watching you go through this pain'," she said.
She had underestimated the size of baby Flynn, who is named after Kerr's teenage boyfriend who died in a car accident suddenly when they were young.
Nick Cannon
There was no doubt that Mariah Carey's birthing process was going to be anything less than a production.
"[The most diva thing I've seen her do is] have twins," Cannon shared. "She shut the whole hospital down."
When Carey gave birth to twins Morocco and Monroe, Nick Cannon played a live performance of her song "Fantasy", so that they would come out to applause. After the twins arrived, he played "We Belong Together".
Dax Shepard
After 33 hours of labor, Kristen Bell wanted an epidural- and so did Shepard.
"She got an epidural hour 14 "” as you should "” and I think dads need something," Shepard said.
"I deserve something because I was along for the ride," he said. "It's still a car crash and I'm in the passenger seat. I'm playing Katy Perry and I'm breathing and I'm rubbing her back and I have fatigue and I think, "˜I need something for this, help me.'"
After a harrowing 33 hour later, she was wheeled in for a C-Section.
"So there's a sheet and then they go, "˜The baby's here!' Then you peek around the sheet and they're lifting out the baby, but then you notice your wife is completely disassembled," he continued. "I can see inside of her."
He was so excited about their daughter Delta's arrival, but he had trouble looking away at the aftermath of the birth.
"I was like, "˜It's a girl! Your liver's out, I think. And those are definitely your intestines. And she has your eyes! Oh my God, put her back together correctly," Shepard said.
"Guys, I need medication if this happens again," he said.
Jason Sudeikis
Olivia Wilde's labor was going so slowly that Sudeikis went to grab dinner, which caused him almost to miss the birth of his first child.
"I'm going to Taco Bell because I'm about to be a dad. I get my two chicken soft [tacos] and a Pepsi, I'm ready to go. I take a photo of it send it to her she's going 'Hahahaha,'" Sudeikis recalls.
But he didn't finish there.
"I'm like what would a dad from the Fifties do? He'd go to a bar. So I wander into a bar,"he said.
He ate 2 chicken soft tacos from Taco Bell and a couple of shots at a local bar, while Wilde was preparing to give birth.
While in the bar he missed a call saying the baby was on its way.
Sudeikis returned just in time to see Otis being born.
"Within 20 minutes, three pushes, there's little Otis," he said, making it sound easy.
