Celebrities would never lie to the public, especially to their dedicated fan bases. See, what I did there? I lied through my teeth in the opening line of this piece, and I won't be the only one getting caught in a lie because of it.

It seems that even in the age of social media and mass market information, celebrities have these strange ideas that they can get away with publicly lying. Not cool. Here are 15 celebrities who got caught with their pants on fire.

1. Beyonce

Let's start out with the Queen Bee herself. Beyonce once claimed that she was responsible for writing her 2006 song "Irreplaceable." It turns out that she was lying, and that Ne-Yo actually wrote it before handing it over to her.

2. James Frey

Frey shot to fame after his "autobiography" A Million Little Pieces made it to the top of the New York Times best-seller list. Turns out his story of drug addiction and redemption was complete donkey plop. He made the whole thing up.

3. Bow Wow

Remember when Lil' Bow Wow was cool in the early 2000s? Nah, me neither. He hasn't been relevant in years. He recently got busted for using a stock photo of a private jet to say he was travelling to NYC in style. That is until someone on a commercial flight spotted him right after he posted it.

4. Khloe Kardashian

No offense to this family, but I assume they are lying whenever their lips are moving. Khloe was embarrassed after being busted posting picture of pies that she supposedly baked. Turns out that those pies looked exactly like the ones you can buy from Sweet Lady Jane in L.A.

5. Rick Ross

Rick Ross was starting to make a name for himself as a rapper, claiming he came up through the thug life hustling drugs and such. Turns out that he was actually a prison guard before his rap career. When he was called out on it, he initially said it wasn't true. Ross eventually owned up this little tidbit of personal history.

6. Lindsay Lohan  

Where to begin. While Lohan was doing her court ordered community service, she claimed that she helped handle Whitney Houston's body bag. The county coroner's office refuted that claim quickly. Really, what was she thinking?

7. Tyga

The "rapper" who always claimed to have grown up in Compton, was caught in that lie because of old video footage. In the video, he talks about his wealthy upbringing in "the Valley." He has now backtracked saying he only lived in the Valley for a short period of time.  

8. Mila Kunis

This one isn't so bad. When Kunis auditioned for the role of Jackie on That 70s Show, she lied to the producers and told them she was about to turn 18. Turns out she was only 14 at the time, but the lie seems to have worked out for her.  

These next 8 celebrities got caught in bold-faced lies as well, some of which will make you mad as hell.

9. Lance Armstrong

The former champion cyclist and testicular cancer survivor always claimed that he never used steroids. He was so adamant about it that when he was actually busted for using those steroids that he said he wasn't, we were all kind of outraged. He was stripped of his championships and banned from the sport for life.

10. Kylie Jenner

For some reason, young women everywhere are obsessed with how Jenner gets her lips to look the way they do. She always claimed that it was the way that she did her makeup. But on her family's "reality" show she admitted to having lip fillers.

11. Brooks Ayers

This dirt bag from the Real Housewives chain of shows lied about being diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He played it up pretty good, gaining sympathy from just about everyone. Turns out he forged the medical documents and was lying his way straight to hell for quite a while.

12. Miley Cyrus

Again, I am never sure when this woman is telling the truth or just making stuff up for the fun of it. In 2013 she stated that she had secretly wed her fiance, Liam Hemsworth. People went absolutely nuts over the news, but didn't seem to care when it turned out to be a total fabrication.  

13. Nicki Minaj

Celebrities seem to love to lie about exactly how old they are, and Minaj is no different. She always claimed that she was born in 1984, but in 2011 Minaj was included in a police report and it came out that she was actually born in 1982.  

14. Britney Spears

When Spears posted a picture of grilled corn with the caption, "It's honestly too good to be true," that turned out to be exactly the case. Someone managed to figure out that the picture was a stock image that comes up when you google "Mexican grilled corn." Honestly, grab a picture from page 5 if you want to pull that off.

15. Brandy

Brandy allegedly married her producer Robert Smith in 2002. The couple even turned the birth of their daughter into their own reality show. When the "marriage" failed, Brandy admitted that it had been a total sham to protect her image. Consider your image ruined now...
