IQ is a great way to measure book smarts. This is the general scoring of IQ results, according to the inventor if the IQ test, Lewis Terman.
- Over 140 - Genius or near genius
- 120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
- 110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
- 90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
- 80 - 89 - Dullness
- 70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
- Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness
This is a rough guide for higher IQ scores:
- 115-124 - Above average
- 125-134 - Gifted
- 135-144 - Highly gifted
- 145-164 - Genius
- 165-179 - High genius
- 180-200 - Highest genius
- >200 - "Unmeasurable genius"
When we think of celebrities, often times we dismiss them as unintelligent, but there are many famous people who rock a high IQ and not all of them are who you might think.
1. Steve Martin
The Saturday Night Live funny man boasts an IQ of 142, which is on the border of "highly gifted" and "genius."
2. Shakira
This judge on The Voice is reported to have an IQ of 140. On top of that, she's considered one of the most powerful women in the world!
3. Nolan Gould
Though he may play the dumber-than-rocks Luke on Mondern Family, Gould is a member of Mensa, having an IQ of 150!
4. Geena Davis
With an IQ of 140, Davis is an official member of Mensa.
5. Kesha
She gets a bad reputation as a bit "spacey" because of her pop-star image, but Kesha scored a 1500 (out of 1600) on her SATs and boasts an IQ of 140.
6. Sharon Stone
Stone accepted a scholarship to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania at just 15 years old. She is reported to have an IQ of 154.
7. Dolph Lundgren
The model and actor was a Ph.D student before he met Grace Jones and moved to New York. He has a Masters degree in chemical engineering and was given a full scholarship to study at MIT. His IQ is 160.
8. Madonna
Madonna won a scholarship to study at the University of Michigan, but she turned it down to become a singer...seems to have worked for her. The best-selling female recording artist of all time has an IQ of 140.
9. Natalie Portman
Portman worked hard for a bachelor's degree in psychology from Harvard, and even missed the premiere of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace to study for high school exams. She has twice been published in scientific journals, and is fluent in five languages. Her IQ is listed in the 140 range.
10. Quentin Tarantino
The famous film director has an IQ of 160, which is the same as famed smart-guy Stephen Hawking.
11. Mayim Bialik
Playing a neuroscientist on The Big Bang Theory must be pretty easy for the former Blossom star, as she has a Ph.d in neuroscience and boasts an IQ between 150 and 163.
12. Conan O'Brien
The talk-show host has an impressive IQ of 160, graduating magnum cum laude from Harvard University.
13. Nicole Kidman
With an IQ of 132, the Aussie actress is on the line between gifted and genius!
14. Matt Damon
Matt Damon attended Harvard, but never actually finished. That doesn't mean he's not intelligent, though. The Oscar-winning actor boasts an IQ of 160.
15. James Wood
After nabbing near-perfect SAT scores, Wood enrolled at UCLA. Today, he's reported to have an incredible IQ of 184!
