What's the strangest place you've ever spent a night? But, I can guarantee those places aren't nearly as quirky as the some of the hotels that made this list.

From coffin beds to a talking walls, there are some fascinating hotels around the world that like to shake things up by daring to go against the norm. Here are 13 of them:

1. Poseidon Undersea Resort, Fiji

If you wanted to temporarily live like a mermaid, this 5-star luxury resort is the perfect setting to give it a try. Located 40 feet under the sea, Poseidon Undersea Resort features 25 suites, a restaurant, spa, bar, gym and even a wedding chapel. Your stay doesn't come with a cheap price tag, an all-inclusive week will set you back $15,000.

2. Hotel Parchi del Garda, Lake Garda, Italy

The walls literally have ears in this animated Italian hotel. Located a few miles from Gardaland theme park, Parchi del Garda has four experience rooms filled with 4D features like an interactive wall and decor.

3. Attrap' Reves Hotel, France

You can sleep in a bubble in the Provencal forests of France at the Attrap' Reves Hotel. The plastic bubbles are made from eco-friendly plastic and recyclable materials and can be customized to your taste. The hotel website currently lists a variety of packages including a star gazing experience.

4. Costa Verde Quepos, Costa Rica

This unusual hotel in Costa Rica is actually a refurbished Boeing 727. Unlike the typical cramped plane, Hotel Costa Verde is luxurious and spacious. The fuselage which was found at San Jose airport in 1965 has since been converted into a $500 per night suite complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, dining room, a flat-screen TV.

I wish I could say that I'm surprised anyone would want to spend a night in a coffin, but I can't. There are plenty of morbid people in the world and the Propeller Island City Lodge in Germany is a perfect place for them. If coffins aren't your choice of closed space to sleep, then maybe these Finnish igloos will make a better alternative. The two or four-person glass accommodations are perfect for those who want to admire the northern lights while snuggled up with a special someone. The larger igloos include their own toilet and shower, but you'll have to make your way to a separate building to enjoy the saunas.

If you thought a hotel made of ice was strange, then wait till you find out what landed Palacio de Sal on this list.

The Bolivian spa and golf resort is made entirely of salt! Everything from its walls, to furnishings and ceilings have been crafted using salt. Palacio de Sal offers all the amenities that a regular hotel would with the added benefit of dry salt air which has been claimed to improve health and mood.

From May to October, those who are eager to experience what it's like to live in a sewer pipe can make their wish come true at Das Park Hotel in Germany. The rooms are in a smaller space than your usual hotel but they're designed to provide maximum comfort. There's an ensuite bathroom filled with toiletries and if you're hungry, there's a restaurant nearby,  you'll just need to walk through the park to get there.

The Dog Bark Park Inn in Cottonwood, Idaho is probably the cutest place to stay on the list! The beagle-shaped B&B known as Sweet Willy has two bedrooms and is decorated with dog-themed furnishings. The park surrounding the inn is a popular tourist destination equipped with a visitor center, a gift shop and a gallery with dog carvings by chainsaw artists.

13. Crane Hotel, Netherlands

If being submerged underwater or sleeping in caves aren't your idea of a cool accommodation, then perhaps lounging 50 meters above the ground is what you need.
