Courtney Stodden and actor Doug Hutchison's marriage was one of the most talked about topics of 2011. The pair got hitched in Las Vegas when Courtney was just sixteen years old and Doug 50.
The couple met during an internet-based acting workshop ran by Doug and began to date exclusively online for about 6 months. Soon after, they met in person and it didn't take long for Doug to learn about Courtney's real age.
According to reports, he was ready to end the relationship but Courtney's mom gave him her blessing because regardless of how young her daughter may be, she was confident that she would make the right choices as a "devout christian."
"Doug is wonderful," Stodden told Us Weekly in 2011. "He picks up my coffee beans that I spill on the floor. He picks up my foundation. He picks up my feathers from my big robe that I wear. My high heels are all over. I have a wonderful life, a wonderful husband."
Since appearing under the spotlight, Courtney took full advantage of her newfound fame to further her beauty pageant career and establish herself as a celebrity. Both her and Doug made appearances on Good Morning America, E! News and VH1's Couples Therapy.
The teen bride has consistently posted lewd photos of herself online in the name of modelling and stirred up plenty of controversy when she released teamed up with Vivid Entertainment to release a sex-tape in 2015.
Prior to the film's release, Courtney starred on the 12th season of Celebrity Big Brother and 50 Cent's "Don't Worry Bout It" music video.
In 2013, the May-December couple confirmed rumors of their divorce citing age as a reason. However, in mid-2014, they announced that they have reconciled and planned to renew their vows.
It wasn't long after that the couple announced that they were expecting their first child but unfortunately, things took a sad turn a few months into Courtney's pregnancy.

Last July, three months into her pregnancy, Courtney suffered a miscarriage. The 22-year-old reality star opened up about her struggle with the "emotional loss" in an interview with Us Magazine.
"It's a bittersweet time for me right now. I'm dealing with a lot of stress and emotions surrounding life and its ups and downs," she told the magazine at the time. "Doug and I weren't planning on going public with this so soon. I'm only four weeks along in my pregnancy. But some things are out of your control."
The months following the loss of their unborn child continued to be very trying for the couple and in January 2017, it was reported that they have split after 6 years of marriage.
"They split a couple of months ago but they're still living together," a source close to the couple told ET. "They're still friendly. There's no bad blood. [Courtney] wants to focus on herself and her career."
Courtney seems to have been bouncing back well from the separation seeing as she threw a massive divorce party this past April at Crazy Horse III Gentlemen's Club.
Despite all the hardship the past year brought along, the blonde bombshell has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
"I'm really excited to let my hair down and be single and learn and grow. And my brand, to be immersed in that," she told Las Vegas Review Journal.
She's made plenty of solo red carpet appearances since the divorce announcement and she is definitely not 16 anymore. She's sporting a very different look than when she first made waves online.
Her transformation hasn't only been physical either. Continue to the next page to see how she's changed.
Anyone can tell you that the years between 16 and 22 are big ones, and not enough maturing is done in that little bit at a time. Now, just truly entering adulthood, Stodden is preparing to grow on her own as opposed to being part of a couple.
"I am happy and I am excited," she told E! News. "Just being able to start over. When I was 16 I got my marriage license instead of my driver's license."
She says she's staying single for now and focusing on marketing her brand and learning to grow.
While she is still known mainly for her looks, Stodden says she's working on "her brand" and frequently makes red carpet appearances.
For his part, Hutchinson suffered a serious career backlash after the marriage.
"When we got married he lost his family. His managers dropped him, his agent put a pin in his career, he lost his friends," Stodden said in the interview.
Now he co-manages Stodden, and although separated, the two continue to live together in the house. Both have frequently said that the split is amicable and the pair remains friendly.

Although Courtney initially denied having plastic surgery, she later opened up on more than one occasion about going under the knife.
Back in 2016, she gave Entertainment Tonight a behind-the scenes peek at procedures she was getting done, her nose job being the most important one.
Courtney expressed feeling self-conscious about the shape of her nose so she was excited to finally get it fixed.
She told the entertainment network that she is open to more procedures in the future when "when gravity starts taking over."
